Throughout the ages, we have witnessed various types of heating radiators for homes come and go. Despite the different options that we have, the traditional radiators or the conventional radiators still are the most popular nowadays.
These traditional radiators carry heat by a series of pipes also known as “ribs”. The amount of ribs the radiator has depends on its size. Most radiators use many ribs but the smaller radiators only have one or two on them. These types of radiators could still be found in many apartments and homes and are best kept along your walls.
Some of the modern types of radiators are fan assisted and some are by under floor heating. The fan radiators are smaller and they produce heat by relaying hot water through a heat exchanger and have the hot air blown away. While the Under-floor heating is the more modern type which uses a series of pipes and cables underneath the floorboards to bring about heat inside the room it is installed in.
The traditional method of circulating heat usually used by traditional central heating radiators is by forcing hot water or steam through the pipes. However, in some radiators, oil is used instead. This type of radiator functions properly without the use of a furnace or boiler system but rather, this radiator is run by electricity.
The size of the traditional radiator to be use depends on the size of the room it would be used it. A small room requires at least the two rib radiator and of course a bigger room needs a radiator with multiple ribs.
These older radiators were preferred not because of style but because of its functionality. So there is little regard on the decorations placed upon the radiator. The Victorian radiators are probably the most popular type of decorative traditional radiators in the times. It was very popular in the households of the olden times and even in the modern if one prefers to have a classical touch of beauty in their home.
