Tiles are considered best material for keep the kitchen and bathroom neat and tidy. The greatest advantage of tiles is that they require very minimum maintenance; in fact there is no maintenance cost of tiles for many years. One can get this type of durability from tiles only if the tiles are installed correctly because it is very necessary for the tiles to be placed professionally.

At the time of installation or tiles for the first time or at the time remodeling, you can have two choices to install the tiles. One is to do the job at your own and the other is to hire a professional. If you have limitation in your budget, you can do the job at your own quite easily. Other than the tiles, adhesive material the tool you need is tile saw.

A tile saw will enable you to cut the tiles and smooth the edges in order to install them in tricky corners etc. There are many companies manufacturing various types of tile saw for use at different levels. But for personal use like to install tiles in a kitchen and in one or two bathrooms, the best you can buy – workforce tile saw. There are many reasons behind buying the workforce tile saw. A workforce tile saw uses diamond tipped circular saw blade to cut ceramic or porcelain tiles.

Like in any other tile saw, during the cutting tip of the blade generates immense heat which can reach to a point where tiles can be damaged or cracked. To reduce the risk of cracking or shattering of tiles, workforce tile saw circulates water around the diamond tipped blade which results in cooled cutting operation and smooth finish of the edges.

A workforce tile saw having 7-inch blade is an ideal tool for home use because of its unique features of powerful 3/4HP motor, water reservoir, adjustable rip fence, hinged adjustable table for 15, 30 and 45 degree miter cuts and its cost which is approx $100 makes it a number one choice for many people.

There are many garage remodeling ideas people have and different things you can use your garage for. Lighting can become somewhat of a problem though, as most garages have only two lights: an overhead bulb that isn’t too bright and a light built into the automatic garage door system that only comes on when the door is opening and closing. Because of this if you are looking for some garage workshop ideas or something along that line, you are in all probability going to have to find some better lighting options.

Many garages don’t have more than one electrical socket and this is just the way they are built. If you are fortunate and have multiple sockets in your garage, putting in new and improved lighting will likely be a lot simpler. Many garage owners choose to use shop lights that brighten the areas over the workbench.

Chains are often used to hang these lights from the ceiling and the cord is put into a power outlet somewhere in the garage. Lights like these are great for all parts of the garage that are dark.

For the small areas you can use lights that clip on to something and are battery operated. These lights can be attached to walls or shelving using clips, screws or adhesive and they just turn on and off with a button. These battery operated lights are just used to bring light to a particular area and won’t help with the overall garage lighting.

By upgrading the primary light fixture in your garage to something brighter, the lighting in the whole room will be improved dramatically. You can find fluorescent light bulbs that give out 15o watts of light but use much less energy in the stores now. They are handy if you don’t want to modify any of the fixtures and work with just the outlets you have.

This article is all about BTUs. If you’ve been searching for a portable heater or shopping for electric heaters for garage recently, you’ve probably seen this acronym everywhere. Every package boasting how many BTUs the heater has and claiming that is what makes it superior to other models.

Today, I’m going to break down exactly what BTUs are so that you make an informed purchase of your next garage heater. It’s easy to get caught up in the marketing hype. Now don’t get me wrong, the amount of BTUs a garage heater, especially an electric garage heater, is important. So understanding exactly what BTUs are and how they are used will help you find the right heater for your particular garage.

The first thing we’ll cover is what exactly BTU stands for; British Thermal Unit. Technically speaking, it’s a traditional unit of energy equal to about 1.06 kilojoules. What does all that mean… it’s about the same amount of energy needed to heat one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit. I hope that made it a little better. Long story short, the term BTU is used to describe the heat value of heating and cooling systems. The higher the BTUs, the more powerful the heater.

The second thing you want to be aware of is that power isn’t everything. The higher the BTUs, all it means is that your garage heater is able to produce a tremendous amount of heat. But why spend extra money on for extra BTUs if you have a normal sized garage.

More than likely, your garage is no bigger than 500 square feet. So anything around the 15,000 – 17,000 BTU level is more than enough for your garage. If you’re trying to heat a space larger than that, you can install a traditional heating and cooling system or purchase multiple garage heaters. The multiple garage heater option may sound nice, but your electric bill will drastically increase.

So there you have it, don’t buy into the BTU hype. If you have a standard sized garage (300 – 500 square feet), look for garage gas heaters or electric garage heaters that produce a maximum of 17,000 BTUs. This will sufficient for your situation and your electricity bill won’t go through the roof.
