Vacuum cleaners are everyday devices that we all should recognize.  Well, with modern technology bring us new products very often, vacuum cleaners are changing so fast we may not recognize them soon enough.  A normal vacuum cleaner is a bag attached to a handle that is moved forwards and backwards over a dirty surface.  The dirt particles are sucked into a bag that collects the grime and needs to be replaced every so often.

Since then, some vacuum designs have changed drastically.  Some now come in hand held varieties, which help when you are trying to vacuum corners or carpets, stairs, and other odd shaped objects.  There are also many attachments that now come with vacuums, including brushes, handles, and nozzles.

Some vacuum cleaners are even bagless now.  They do not require a bag, meaning you use less time maintaining your vacuum.  The dirt is collected into a compartment that just needs to be dumped into a trash can when its full.  Some bagless vacuums come with a filter to keep grime from shooting back out the vacuum onto your carpet.

Advanced technology has allowed people to start producing self-operating vacuum cleaners.  These machines work themselves, almost like a robot.  The vacuum has sensors that can tell what is clean and what still needs to be cleaned.  When it hits a wall, it knows to change direction and vacuum something else.  It also will refrain from falling down stairs because it has a sensor keeping it from doing so.  Some can even be operated without turning on with a button, as they are set to turn themselves on and vacuum at a scheduled time automatically.  Don’t think that the vacuum can automatically empty its debris compartment, however.  That task is suited for humans to perform.  I am still worried about how well these devices work, though, because they are so small they seem to be less powerful than a standard vacuum.  I’d make sure to consistently clean out its debris compartment, as it will not work very well if you let it get full.

New technology has produced vacuums that make life easier.  The real question now is is it worth taking a gamble and buying a vacuum that is new with advanced technology, or should one just stick with a congenital vacuum for now?

Kitchen cleaning supplies are a challenge to purchase for using around home appliances. You want them to work, but at the same time, you do not want them to be toxic. Biodegradable products would be a plus. Finding great purchases at good prices is also, of course, desirable. So it is a fine line we walk between safety and cleanliness and trying to be ego-friendly all at the same time.

Cleaning up cooking spills is easiest when attended to quickly.  If you have a busy household with many dishes being prepared at the same time, it is sometimes a task that is overlooked until after the meal has been enjoyed.  Then when the dishes are cleared from the table, the cook and helpers are facing a messy counter top, overflow from cooking pots, or a dirty oven.

Baking soda is very effective, and is an inexpensive cleaner with a mild abrasive quality, good for many surfaces that may have baked on spills.  Salt will absorb oil and also makes cleaning up a dropped egg easier.  Just use it to cover an egg, let it sit a few minutes, and then it wiping it up will be a much easier chore.  And if the fruit from a pie has spilled over onto the bottom of an oven, adding salt will make it become a  substance that is easier to scrape off.

If you use a microwave and it has become splattered inside, you can clean and deodorize at the same time.  Cut a lemon in half and place face down on a plate with a tablespoon of water.  Microwave until the lemon is hot or for about 1 minute.  The surfaces will then wipe down quite easily and the lemon, when chopped small, is a great refresher for a garbage disposal.

Be resourceful, and try cleaning with items already in the kitchen cooking area.

Many people that have a central vacuum system installed into their home find them tremendous for cleaning their home.  However, they often dismiss central vacuum accessories as being superfluous to requirements and this could not be further from the truth.  In this article we will discuss some of the main mistakes that people make regarding central vac accessories.

1.    They disregard hose socks for a central vacuum system

Having a central vacuum hose sock on the hose of your central vacuum system may not seem very important.  However, if you have valuable furniture in your home, it is advisable that you fit a hose sock as this will prevent friction marks from getting onto your furniture over time.  The problem with these marks is that you will not notice them accumulating until they are there and your furniture is damaged.

2.    They do not upgrade their central vacuum accessories regularly.

Manufacturers of these systems are constantly upgrading their accessories as better technology allows them to produce more useful items to add to their range.  You may not need to upgrade your base unit for many years, but it is advisable to keep abreast of developments in the accessories market and to upgrade the accessories for your system at regular intervals.

3.    They insist on sticking with the original hose that came with the system.

One of the features of a central vacuum system is its longevity.  Many homeowners have these systems in their home for quite a few years without having had to upgrade.  However technology with regard to central vacuum accessories in general, and central vac hoses in particular, has moved on quite considerably and modern hoses can be a lot longer and lighter than their predecessors.  If you have an older type hose for your system, you should consider getting an upgrade.
